We are very excited to welcome highly acclaimed UK author Sarah Waters. Her six historical novels are page-turning and highly inventive, known for their wit and explosive twists. Many have been made into top quality drama series for television, such as Fingersmith, Tipping the Velvet and The Night Watch. Waters’ novels have been shortlisted for the Man Booker and the Orange/Bailey’s Prize numerous times.
Her latest book, The Paying Guests, chronicles the awakening of a passion in 1920s London that has terrible consequences, and asks: how far would we go for a love that is forbidden by society but nonetheless achingly real?
Don’t miss an evening of lively conversation and story, chaired by Carole Beu.
Carole Beu has run The Women’s Bookshop in Ponsonby for 26 years. She is a Trustee of the Auckland Writers Festival, reviews regularly on Nine-to-Noon, and last year co-hosted the TV and online series The Book Show.
